Our beloved prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised us with this regard, as mentioned in a hadith: “Women may be married for four things: their wealth, their lineage, their beauty and their religious commitment. Choose the one who is religiously-committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may your prosper).” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5090)

So, as mentioned in the above hadith the first and foremost quality to consider when looking for a Muslim wife is her religious commitment. There is another hadith regarding the same, as narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “This world is temporary joys, and the best temporary joy of this world is a righteous wife.” (Narrated by Muslim, 1467)

So, make sure to choose a wife who is religiously committed, has sound belief and knowledge about the Deen, one who can fulfill half of your Deen.

Now, the second in line is her character. Good character is also one of the most important factors to consider when looking for a Muslim wife. It goes hand in hand with piety and righteousness. As the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have only been sent to perfect good characteristics.” (Narrated by Bukhari)

The next is her beauty. Choose a Muslim wife, who pleases you when you look at her and is beautiful enough to help you in lowering your gaze. But it does not mean that she needs to be the most beautiful lady on the earth, Miss Universe or like. And, also remember that beauty comes after her piety and righteousness.

Also get to know about her family background. Make sure that she comes from a decent and religious family. Also, seek some information about the atmosphere around her, in what atmosphere she had been bought up, her friend circle and all.
